RSC – JOURNAL OF ANALYTICAL ATOMIC SPECTROMETRY (JAAS)

The Journal of analytical atomic spectrometry (JAAS) from the Royal Society of Chemistry, are proud to sponsor two prizes (£100 each) at the best posters presented during the CSI XLII. The winners will be announced during the conference.


JOURNAL SPECIAL ISSUES

Authors of the papers submitted to the CSI XLII conference are invited to write an postconference paper to be published in a Special Issue of:

  • Spectrochimica Acta Part A. Publication of a Virtual Special Issue (VSI) of Spectrochimica Acta Part A: Molecular and Biomolecular Spectroscopy has been approved by the Publisher (Elsevier), to be guest-edited by Prof. Alexander A. Kamnev, CSI ISC member and EB member of the journal. The VSI will contain a collection of peer-reviewed and accepted papers, based on the materials of invited or contributed sectional talks and posters presented at CSI XLII, in which the main results were obtained by means of molecular spectroscopy techniques and/or related theoretical approaches. The timelines and deadlines for manuscript submission (starting from August 15, 2022) and processing, as well as other relevant information will be posted here later.
  • Spectrochimica Acta Part B. Publication of a Virtual Special Issue (VSI) of Spectrochimica Acta Part b: Atomic Spectroscopy has been approved by the Publisher (Elsevier), to be guest-edited by Prof. Jorge Pisonero Castro. The VSI will contain a collection of peer-reviewed and accepted papers, based on the materials of invited or contributed sectional talks and posters presented at CSI XLII, in which the main results were obtained by means of atomic spectroscopy techniques and/or related theoretical approaches. The timelines and deadlines for manuscript submission (starting from August 15, 2022) and processing, as well as other relevant information will be posted here later.

b. Conference Venue. Travel to Gijon and Accommodation

Conference venue: Gijon Convention Centre (Palacio de Congresos de Gijon). Recinto Ferial Luís Adaro - Av. Dr. Fleming, 481. Gijon. Spain.

Gijón Convention Centre is right in front of one of the green lungs of the city (Isabel la Catholica Park), five minutes away from the nearest beach (San Lorenzo), at the foot of widely used sports facilities and tracks, and surrounded by hotels within a walking distance of 5-10 minutes. Depending on where you staying, you will be able to reach the Building by foot enjoying a 10-min walk around some of the most charming parts of the city. However, some hotels might not be close enough for our participants to do so.

Walks to the Conference Centre can take you through the beautiful city center, or maybe along the scenic beach of San Lorenzo, as well as through the full-of-life Isabel la Catholica park. Additionally, Gijón has a reliable, regular public transport network. You can easily travel to the main nearby cities by train or bus, and there are frequent buses that allow you to move faster around the city. Most of these buses have a 15 min frequency and the ticket price is 1'25 €.

If you are staying in the city center you might want to take a bus to the Conference Centre. You can check all available bus lines here as well as their routes on a city map

TRAVEL TO GIJON

Asturias airport is located 40 km West of Gijón. This airport is connected to Gijón by regular buses (daily departures from the airport use to be between 6:00 am and midnight approximately every hour). Official taxis are also available outside of the arrivals terminal with a cost of approximately 48 €. Renting a car is also possible. Alternatively, you reach Gijón from other Spanish airports:

  • Santander, national and low cost companies. 177 km away, connected to Gijón by bus.
  • Bilbao, national, international and low cost companies. 267 km away, connected to Gijón by bus.
  • Santiago de Compostela, national, international and low cost companies. 299 km away, connected to Gijón by bus.
  • Madrid, national, international and low cost companies. 466 km away, connected to Gijón by air, by bus and by train.

SPAIN ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Citizens from any State of the European Union, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein only need a valid national identity document or passport. Citizens from the United Kingdom and North Ireland will require a passport since their countries are not members of the Schengen Area.

Being in possession of a valid visa is required for the rest of foreign countries. To obtain the visa you will need an invitation letter that will be provided by the Conference Secretariat once you have get registered paid the registration. For more info please check the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website.

Intending participants should be requested to check that they comply with any entry visa requirements by contacting the nearest embassy or diplomatic mission of the host country. If no such representation exists in a particular country, participants should consult the Organizers about the appropriate authority to contact. IUPAC endorsement implies that entry visas will be granted to all bona fide chemists, provided application is made not less than six months in advance. If a visa is not granted two months before the meeting, the Organizers and the IUPAC Secretariat should be notified by the applicant.

If you require a letter of invitation for Visa application purposes, you can ask for it at the time when you are submitting an abstract. Please send an email to CSI XLII Committee (secretary@isbc-isls2022.com) to ask for it. The conference organizers, or its agents, cannot accept any responsibility for visa applications. Where a delegate is unable to attend because of failure to obtain a visa on time, the normal cancellation policy for registration fees will apply.

c. Tourism Information
